Chamber Heater for Ants

As a side quest, I've been toying with the idea of a simple 100W 24V chamber heater solution to easily reach temperatures similar to my V2, which is around 90°C.

Design goals:

  • No printed plastic
  • Low part count
  • Very well-constrained airflow
  • Mounted to panels through M3 spacers

Since the build is already bound to have a limited number of SLM parts, it made sense to look at the pricing for a duct between the axial fans and the heaters. Yes, I looked at the shorter version of my sheet metal 6028 blower design, but there isn't enough room to mount it if I still wanna keep the sheet cooling on both sides.

So I sketched up and printed a prototype duct for 4028s (assembled with 4010s in the pics). Adeo told me 3628s are probably more suited for this application, which is even better, since 40mm seems to be on the larger side for this PTC size.

The cost seems to be a non-issue; it's possible to keep it around the $10-$15 mark, which I find reasonable.

So yeah, when the time comes to order the SLM stuff for the M0, the chamber heater I want to go with will be ready as well. I will do the same with the sheet metal parts and the big 6028 heater for the V2.

UPDATE: We will also have SLM ducts for the 500W heater with 5032 axial fans.
