CPAP Tube Management Idea 3

CPAP Tube Management

I wanted to give you guys something to play with over the weekend.

I noticed that my CPAP tubes always develop a kink after a while. It's also evident that they don't take twisting very well, and delaminate near the ends. While this isn't a problem with the PTFE or the cables if they have a proper strain relief, it seems like the fixed ends don't work well with the tube, especially if we want it as short as possible.

Then I remembered that some of us already have these large 15mm ID, now obsolete, extruder idlers that are perfect for a smooth and reliable swivel joint. Although the design already seals well without an O-ring, it can be added optionally. I didn't have the perfect size for this, but a slightly overstretched ring from a 1/4" PC WC fitting worked just fine.

For now, I haven't added a compression ring between the outer races of the bearings, because it seems unnecessary.

I'm 3 iterations in so far, and it should be relatively easy to add this to existing CPAP boxes. It also makes disconnecting the hose pretty convenient.

Let me know what you guys think! We can always tweak things later.
