Cross or Crossn't - V0 Development

Despite having several working layouts for the V0 cross, I don't think any of them managed to meet one of the most important design goals for this project, which is making the printer less of a meme.

As it stands there are just too many, too small, and too fragile parts crammed into a small space that make maintenance and alignment too hard.

The last update on this project captured my enthusiasm about live shafts and easier alignment by utilizing 8mm rods instead of perim rails. While all of that sounded good the tensioner mechanism with the rods would've been crammed into less space and I at no point saw an opportunity to put any sort of cooling on the toolhead. The small footprint, the cross-rail carriages, and the backers left me with barely any space to work with even for the hotend, let alone CPAP or PCFs.

What now?

It turns out that the structural N17 tophat layout is perfect for a more space-efficient, Monolith-style belt path. I don't have a fully-fledged concept yet, but SLM CPAP and MGN12H XY seem possible without build loss.

Bonus

A couple of videos to show how bad this build currently is with printed parts and no backers.
