This is likely my final post about the conversion itself. Apart from some wiring and modifying the Klipper configuration, this is almost a fully functional printer again, ready for Z-motion prototyping. Even though I’m using the V2 gantry with the extra indexing features removed, it was relatively easy to align everything and get basically zero racking on the first try.
I’m especially happy with how easy it was to deal with XY stepper cables. If anything, the 2-meter-long cables alone on the S45Rs are worth it over any other 2504, since they eliminate the need for soldering or cable extensions on any setup.
