Aside from the temporary MZA availability issue, I think the current BOM is pretty easy to self-source. So it would make sense to improve some aspects of the extruder and the hotend with custom parts for the kit. Currently, we're driving the standard LGX gear with a worm, which works well but could be improved with a proper worm gear. And at that point, milled hotend blocks are probably less of a headache than SLM + MZA + post-processing.

The custom parts will require a lot of testing and prototyping, so this is likely a 2026 thing.

The self-sourced version of the design won't be affected by this.

The good news is that IN3DTEC has finally shipped my heater blocks after the delay and I'm done with the hardest part of the update, which was the extruder geometry. Hopefully, the alu parts will get here more quickly.
