LDO Gantry Kit in 2WD Config - IS Comparison
I'm now testing the LDO gantry kit in its 2WD config, and I have to say I'm quite impressed by the simplicity and the low noise level compared to AWD.
The average driven belt length is just a tad over 2x compared to AWD, and the results are very closely aligned with that, showing 90+% scaling in my case with AWD.
Please keep in mind that my config is pretty much as light as it gets for a 300mm. I think the Input Shaper performance and the AWD scaling will tank more than what the weight increase will suggest. The next comparison will be Carbonara + hollow rail vs 2020 + normal rail to show people more realistic expectations.
Test conditions:
- 300mm flying gantry
- 4040/2040 frame
- 3mm aluminum structural side panels
- 2020 Y-extrusions with 2mm stainless backers
- Double SLM Z-joints
- LDO 2504 S45Rs @2.5A and 36V
- LDO CNC kit in 2WD
- EPDM 10mm belts @20lbs
- Custom lightweight X-rail, Z2 (or even higher) preload
- Carbonara with Ti hardware
- Experimental Monolith Toolhead
- Measured with Beacon at room temperature
- Accel/Hz = 125
- Sweeping
I had to enable sweeping for this, because I couldn't get enough PSD with 2WD at 125 accel/Hz and 20lbs of tension. From now on, all of my updated results will be with sweeping enabled.
