Anti-Vibration CPAP Mounts

There are 3 options I’m considering for the CPAP mounts, all of which have their pros and cons.

Silicone washers

  • They’re versatile, and we could definitely utilize them elsewhere in the future as well.
  • The spring rate can be increased by compressing them.
  • They aren’t good at keeping the CPAP mount at a certain height.

Rubber bushings with threads

  • They’re designed to absorb vibrations in the XY plane while remaining relatively firm in the Z direction, which is beneficial for the intake seal.
  • They can’t be tuned for different weights and imbalances, so we can only tune the system by selecting the bushings.

Printed flexures on the ring

  • It’s the most cost-effective option, and the stiffness can be tailored to suit the application.
  • Fatigue can be an issue with certain materials.
  • Probably not the quietest option due to the lower damping compared to rubber.

The plan is to make prototypes with all three and see where that takes me. I’ve already made a working solution with the washers, and my rubber bushings have just arrived, so no excuses there.
