#Monolith Zero

I printed Cbon's excellent double fan sheet coolers almost two years ago, for the Cross Zero. They are slightly modified to fit the design language and have a different mounting solution. I had to cut the duct extension from them to clear the CPAP ducts, but the whole printer is gonna be rebuilt properly for the Beta…

We hit a milestone earlier this week, as there are two working M0s out in the wild. As soon as I received my SLM parts, I got it working in no time. There is still a long way to go until the Beta, but it's been a rewarding and fun dev cycle so far…

It looks like I'm finally getting my SLM parts for the M0 today, so I'll try to summarize some of the progress I haven't shown yet…

zruncho's prototype is also coming along nicely. He's already got the SLM parts in there, while my IN3DTEC order is still stuck in customs…

As promised, we're working on the remaining printed parts. One of the most striking features of the design is definitely the handles…

I'm also getting pretty close to a working printer. It needs a toolhead and all of the electronics that I have already tested. At this point, I think I'll wait for my SLM parts to arrive…

Coming up with a nicely integrated, removable hinge design has proven to be one of the most challenging parts (at least for me) in this development phase…

In this episode, I made good progress on the XY gantry and the stepper mounts. The bed was also installed, but I don't like how tall these silicone spacers are. Although I've already put the gantry plates in place, but the screws weren't tightened because I wanted to see the alignment with the stepper shafts first…

Aside from the alignment and the Z-endstop, the Z-motion is almost done at this point. Before installing the 5mm thick bed holder, I realized that it would be such a QoL improvement if I made enough clearance for the MGN7H carriages to get past the plate. So, I modified the plate using a file and updated the CAD accordingly…
