#Monolith Zero

We already discussed the unsupported MGN12H X-rail on the M0 and how the frequency drop was slightly more pronounced in the middle than I’m used to with my 300mm and Carbonara. Fortunately, I had a spare 5mm-thick bed mounting plate that I could cut and drill to make a simple backer for the middle of the rail. Three holes are directly from the rail, and the additional two also sandwich the XY joints…

We haven’t observed a significant increase in frequency with the all-metal gantry compared to the enhanced FDM one, which makes sense since the moving mass is probably heavier, offsetting the rigidity increase…

The heat loss through the aluminum panels is significant. Without the sheet cooling (acting as bed fans) and the extra heat from the bed, steppers, hotend, and CPAP, the temperature can barely reach about 50°C in 30 minutes…

Zruncho and I already have these working prototypes, and our experiences have shown us better approaches in multiple areas for the next iteration. Nothing is finalized at the moment, so we can easily redo everything from scratch before involving more people. Besides, the XY gantry’s simplicity makes future upgrades cheap and straightforward…

I printed Cbon's excellent double fan sheet coolers almost two years ago, for the Cross Zero. They are slightly modified to fit the design language and have a different mounting solution. I had to cut the duct extension from them to clear the CPAP ducts, but the whole printer is gonna be rebuilt properly for the Beta…

We hit a milestone earlier this week, as there are two working M0s out in the wild. As soon as I received my SLM parts, I got it working in no time. There is still a long way to go until the Beta, but it's been a rewarding and fun dev cycle so far…

It looks like I'm finally getting my SLM parts for the M0 today, so I'll try to summarize some of the progress I haven't shown yet…

zruncho's prototype is also coming along nicely. He's already got the SLM parts in there, while my IN3DTEC order is still stuck in customs…

As promised, we're working on the remaining printed parts. One of the most striking features of the design is definitely the handles…
